A Gift From the Porsche Gods
The 981 Porsche Cayman was first introduced to the world by the CEO Mattias Muller at the Geneva Auto Show in March of 2012. Muller took the direction of a more reasonably priced car that reflected the looks of the (991) 911 and the 918. The new version of the Cayman had newer, more modern updates as you would expect from Porsche to attract more of a fanbase and hold on to the existing enthusiasts of the brand. The new model gained acclaim in the motoring press as one of the best handling sports cars at any price, due to its-mid engine layout and driving dynamics. The Cayman S benefitted from the same engine and running gear as Porsche’s latest 3.4-litre version of the 911. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, 2 years later they introduced the GTS. A match made in heaven.
Fliege Wie Ein Schmetterling, Steche Wie Eine Biene
The Cayman GTS was introduced in 2014, and is based on the 981 platform. It featured a marginally more powerful engine, a new body kit, new 20-inch Carrera S wheels, new Bi-Xenon headlights, and a new sports exhaust system. The new, optional passive sport suspension allows the Cayman GTS to have a 0.75″ lower ride height compared to the Cayman equipped with standard passive suspension. The engine is rated at 341 hp, and can achieve a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 4.9 seconds with the manual transmission, 4.7 seconds with PDK and 4.5 seconds with PDK and Sport Plus mode, which is activated via the now standard Sports Chrono Package. The Cayman GTS weighs 3,053 lbs with the manual transmission and can attain a top speed of 177 mph while the Cayman GTS with PDK can reach 175 mph and weighs 3,031 lbs.
All For One and One For All
Michael has been a Porsche-chaser long before the GTS came in to play. It all started with a 1983 SC but was stuck in the garage collecting dust. The urge for a more reliable and modern Porsche was real, which is what made him take the leap into the Cayman GTS realm. Michael’s Porsche Cayman GTS is one of those cars you see driving down the road and can’t get out of your head. It’s a beautiful spec with tasteful and respectable mods that don’t do too much to change the overall styling of the stock look. Michael’s GTS comes packed with the 3.4 liter engine and PDK. Just when you thought the car out of the box wasn’t good enough, the aftermarket mods would definitely make you change your mind. After a BGB Motorsports custom tune, Soul 200 cell headers with the factory Porsche valved exhaust, BMC air filters, IPD plenum and GT3 82mm throttle body, this car sounds like the song of it’s people. Goosebumps, if you will. Suspension goodies include H&R springs, PASM suspension, Tarret Engineering adjustable sway bars, DSC controller to keep the car on rails. Exterior mods include an Inozetek wrap in Era Green installed by Cwraps in Clarksville, TN, a C3 Ducktail spoiler, Darwinpro carbon fiber hood, Zunsport grilles, and 20×9 and 20×11 Apex VS5-RS wheels in motorsports gold wrapped in the sought after Michelin Pilot Sport tires. This GTS is a one of kind, that can be a two-way player as a daily driver/date night car and a track hawk on the tarmac.
