What Led to the Type R?
My very first car was a 2013 Hyundai Veloster. I did plasti dipped wheels, emblems, cut off muffler, and lowering springs. Typical broke high school kid mods. My second car and I which I still have is a 2015 Subaru WRX and this car has been an emotional roller coaster for me. I had a Camaro SS before the Type R, but with my wife and I expecting our second child, I couldn’t fit another car seat in the back of the Camaro.
I wanted something that looked good and was fun to drive so I started to look around and absolutely fell in love with the way the FK8 looked. It took me about 2 months to be able to find one for the right price and color I wanted.

- Work Misters S1 3P wheels.
What’s your dream car, and what got you into cars?
My absolute dream car is a 1972 Nissan Skyline. Everyone always goes for the 90s skylines but for me the 72 looks the absolute best for the time it came out. However, my poster car when I was growing up was the R34 Nissan Skyline. I loved the way it sounded and how you had to drive it from the right-hand side.
I honestly didn’t start getting into cars until I got into high school. Yea I loved the Fast and Furious movies but what got me started was watching 1320 videos on YouTube late at night. I would get an adrenaline rush just watching the street racing and the drag racing.
Future plans with the car?
My future plans for the car is to do some minor bolt-ons to open the car up a bit, possibly some wider fenders, and definitely a front splitter and rear diffuser.
I would love to do a Varis wide body kit in the future when it becomes more affordable. I have a certain vision of the car and I think those will fulfill it completely.
Most enjoyable part about ownership
My favorite part of owning this thus far is airing out when I get somewhere and when I walk away looking back at it. I think to myself I can’t believe I own this. Being a bagged Type R is very well liked in the community, but I couldn’t care less. I absolutely love how my car looks and drives.
The bags honestly have not hurt the drivability of the car. People absolutely love it too. The looks I get when I’m somewhere aired out is truly amazing. It makes me smile when I see a kid get excited about the car, that’s the best part of being a car enthusiast.
