O’Reilly Auto Parts & JM’s Journey 2nd Annual Autism Awareness Car Show

O’Reilly Auto Parts and JM’s Journey is proud to announce the second annual Autism Awareness Car and Truck Show. The event will take place at the Rogersville Recreation Park located at 100 Optimist Drive in Rogersville, Alabama on August 26, 2023. Gates open at 8 am and Registration begins at 8 am for the entries. The entry fee is $25 and all proceeds benefit JM’s Journey (www.jmsjourney.org) and Autism Awareness.
James Michael, JM, is a 6 year old boy that lives in the Rogersville community. He was diagnosed with moderate to severe Autism at 20 months of age. He is non verbal and has several major sensory disorders that require him to attend a special needs school in Huntsville, AL.
JM’s Journey was born from a group of friends in the community and family members who work to raise funds to keep James Michael in his programs as needed and obtain items he needs in his day to day life that are not covered by insurance.
Last year we begin raising funds to obtain and train a service dog for James Michael. We received a lab puppy, Max, who will be 1 year old in April. He has been undergoing discipline classes and behavior programs for several months preparing him for his service dog training. The initial estimate for his training was $15,000, but that has been extended to $22,000 due to the special programs he will be taking.
Last August we managed to raise more than half the money needed for his complete training. We hope to go over this amount this year and be able to see Max through his final steps of service training. It takes a village, but with your help and support and the determination of JM’s “village” we will finish this journey and help James Michael through his journey with Autism.
