Love at First Sight

When I moved to Birmingham about two years ago I was completely new to the whole car scene. I didn’t know about all the car shows and meets, and I especially didn’t know about the amazing cars in the area. I moved from Mobile, Alabama which had somewhat of a car scene, but at the time I wasn’t that interested nor did I believe that I could pursue automotive photography. Nevertheless I ended up here in Birmingham, Alabama. I knew I had to get involved so I attended the first MOBinc car show as a start. During that whole show I had my eye on a classic beauty and couldn’t seem to look away. It was Diana Kennedy’s red Porsche 930 Turbo Slantnose. I had never seen anything like it in my life. It was love at first sight.

Every time that car is around at an event or is brought up in conversation, everyone seems to know about it. It seemed like it was everybody’s favorite car in the area. It was a local legend. I knew I had to get some pictures of that car someday. Over time, I became friends with Diana Kennedy, seeing her at all the car shows and all the races and events at Barber Motorsports Park.

I eventually reached out to her to setup a photo shoot and she was excited to get one in the books. This was my dream shoot. Nothing at the time could top this opportunity so I knew I had to make it count.

Specs

The car was professionally converted from a normal 930 to a slantnose with its iconic pop-up headlights. It sports a beautiful set of HRE 525 three pice racing wheels, Recaro bucket seats, Borla exhaust system, and numerous engine modifications allowing the 3.3 to reach 480 Horses with almost 20 pounds of boost from its Garrett Turbo.
