What got you into Cars?

Codi has an impressive collection of cars, including a BMW M2, a twin-turbo Audi R8, and a C8 Corvette, among many other outstanding vehicles. His passion for cars began when he was just 15 years old. At that age, he purchased a non-working turbo Datsun for $500 and successfully fixed it up. Since then, Codi has been obsessed with cars.

Throughout his adult life, Codi has devoted a considerable amount of time to exploring various car-related subjects.

He started with nitro RC cars and different types of motorcycles, and whenever something broke, he learned how to repair it himself. His deep passion for cars eventually led him to open a shop called Jinn Speed in Northern California.

Codi’s shop specializes in modifying cars for enhanced performance. For example, he installed a twin-turbo kit on his R8. This is just one of the many services his shop offers. Most of the vehicles he owns feature several upgrades that improve their overall performance. The vehicles Codi owns have several upgrades done to them that enhance their overall performance.

Why did you go with the new BMW M2?

Codi explained to me that the brand new BMW M2 is an outstanding all-around car for automotive enthusiasts. It boasts a finely tuned manual transmission that allows for an engaging driving experience, alongside performance-oriented sport tires designed for superior grip on both the track and the road. The car has a robust chassis that contributes to its excellent stability and handling characteristics, coupled with a rear-wheel-drive layout that enhances its sporty feel. With its sleek lines and aggressive stance, the M2 is also aesthetically pleasing, embodying a blend of luxury and performance.

While Codi has a deep passion for Mitsubishi Evos and would choose one over the M2 if given the option, he acknowledges a notable downside to the newer Evo models: they fall short in terms of the modern technology available in the M2. Features such as advanced infotainment systems, driver-assistance technologies, and connectivity options are not as refined in the newer Evos. Furthermore, Codi points out that the newer Evos do not deliver the same exhilarating sportiness as either the M2 or the older Evo models, which are renowned for their thrilling driving dynamics and rally-inspired performance.

What Modifications are Done to the Car?

Codi has made only a few thoughtful modifications to the M2, aiming to keep it simple, daily drivable, and visually appealing. The standout features include stunning BBS LM wheels, sized 20×9.5 in the front and 20×10.5 in the rear, which not only enhance the car’s aesthetics but also improve its handling. The vehicle is complemented by a dry carbon rear wing sourced from Alpha-N, which not only adds a sporty look but also aids in downforce at higher speeds.

In addition to the exterior upgrades, Codi has upgraded the shifter bushings to ensure a more precise and responsive gear change experience. The performance has been enhanced with the installation of high-flow downpipes, allowing for improved exhaust flow, and custom intake filters that increase airflow to the engine. To tie it all together, a mild tune has been applied, optimizing the engine’s performance without sacrificing daily drivability. Overall, this M2 stands out as the most stock car in Codi’s collection, demonstrating a perfect balance between performance enhancements and maintaining the original character of the vehicle.
