The Building of Becky

Maverick (AKA Becky) is a 1990 Porsche 911 Carrera 4. It was built in June of 2017 in North Carolina by Akira Nakai. It was the first RWB built in 2017, the first RWB to come out of the North Carolina workshop, and the 63rd RWB to be built in the United States.

This car was heavily inspired by Stella Artois, Akira Nakai’s personal RWB and the first RWB ever built, back in September of 1998 in Japan. Stella was a 1985 Porsche 930. Maverick takes Stella’s colors and flips them, taking the matte black color of Stella and putting it on the wheels. The bronze wheels were then transformed into a beautiful Sepang Bronze Metallic paint job, making that the color of Maverick’s body.

History of RWB

RWB History

RWB, short for RAUH-Welt Begriff, is a Japanese automotive brand that has completely revolutionized the world of Porsche customization. Founded by Akira Nakai in Japan during the late 1990s, RWB became internationally recognized for transforming ordinary Porsche 911s into extraordinary, head-turning machines. The name loosely translates to “Rough World Concept,” perfectly reflecting the brand’s aggressive personality and bold design.

What makes RWB so fascinating is its ability to turn a classic Porsche into something that looks almost unreal. Its signature modifications include dramatically widened fenders, enormous rear wings, deep-dish wheels, lowered suspension, and exposed rivets that give every vehicle an unmistakably raw appearance. However, RWB is about much more than simply making cars look aggressive. Each build is individually customized, giving every Porsche its own identity and personality.

Akira Nakai personally oversees many of these transformations, making his craftsmanship a major part of the brand’s reputation. His distinctive approach combines Japanese tuning culture with European automotive engineering, creating a spectacular fusion of two automotive worlds.

Despite dividing opinions among traditional Porsche enthusiasts, RWB has established an incredibly passionate worldwide following. Its creations represent individuality, creativity, and an absolute refusal to follow conventional automotive design.

Mavericks Owner

Vince Schmidt is the current owner of Maverick. He bought it in 2025 off of Bring  a Trailer after seeing it one or two years in advance. When a sale came up, they backed down the price and he couldn’t pass on the opportunity.

“Maverick has a raw and mechanical feel while driving it. You feel apart of the car!”-Vince Schmidt
