Don’t make bugs like this
This is a VW based BAJA which started off as a straight, rust free, un-cut Arizona car. I think it’s safe to say, there hasn’t been a spot on this bug that hasn’t been touched. Performance work includes a New VW case, 94mm bore x 78.4mm (2176cc) forged CW crank, H-beam rods, Superflo II heads, AutoCraft rockers, stainless header with Super Trapp muffler, etc. All the good name brand stuff.
3×3 Trailing arms, 930 CV, 091 six rib trans with locker, Custom 3×5 body lift that was professionally done with stainless bolt-on inner panels and welded stainless exterior panels.
Autometer gages, stainless steel dash assembly, power windows, Beard seats, Mark V hand-laid fiberglass kit, 14ga stainless floor panels and the entire pan powder coated then the inside area coated with high pressure polyurea spray-in bed liner on floor, inner fenders and firewall. Wheel adapters are custom aluminum 8 on 130mm x 5 on 205mm, standard VW disc brake consumables with stainless custom caliper mounts on the front.
No Shortcuts
The floor pans, dash, body lift, steering column, engine cage, nerf bars and front bumper are among the stainless fabrications including nearly all the hardware. Many components on the engine (distributor, alternator, intake manifolds, air cleaners, linkage, and more) was finished with graphite black Cerakote in order to deal with the heat and incidental fuel contact. In other words, not your average baja.
