History of the Mazda3 (Owner 1 Nick)

Before we get into all the fun bits of the build, we first need to know where it started! This 2011 Mazda3 sport with a 2.5 duratec and 6 speed transmission, started its life in Maryland as a fun car for SCCA for a DC Metro police officer. After months of suspension upgrades (Corksport front and rear swaybars, Damond solid engine mounts, whiteline bumpsteer spacer kit, Koni adjustable gas struts and shocks, eibach lowering springs Enkei Kojin 18×8 35mm offset wrapped in Firestone Fire Hawk INdy 500) , different wheel and tire set ups, Nick finally said he wants something different. With these thoughts going through his head he decided ” I should build my own speed3 but better!” then it began…

The beginning of the build

Over this extremely long build progress the Mazda3 was completely torn down to a shell! The engine was brought down to bare block, everything fully disassembled. Nick had plenty of experience in the automotive world, so he knew where to start, Molnar H-Beam rods paired, Supertech pistons, and Wiseco piston rings to make sure it could withhold the power it was going to make! What about the bottom end? What about it? its a stock 2.5 Duratec bottom end with King Racing main and rod bearings. What about head.. I mean the head, what about the head? The head is a stock head with a Cometic MLS headgasket.

The bread and butter of it all

Now that the internals have been talked about lets get down to the good stuff! What makes this Gold teeth girlthe baddie she is? Well she has a friend under the hood named GARRETT! Ever heard of her? I bet you have! It a Garrett T3\T4 stage 3 63 trim turbo! To make sure the engine gets enough fuel we have an AEM 50-1000 340LPH fuel pump and Deka EV6 80LB injectors. With this set up so far the the engine is built to withstand 35psi of boost! How does is make the power get to the ground?  Easy a mazdaspeed 3 trans with shift weights and an ACT clutch and flywheel!

How did the Mazda3 get to Huntsville?

Not long after this build was done Nick decided to become a HELL YA MOPAR BROTHER! He wanted to buy a scatpack, so this is where the second owner comes into play, me! I bought this while on the Marine Corps stationed in VA from Nick after my ecoboost Mustang was totaled. I need something kid friendly, fun and this was it. Nick was very picky on who bought this car. I test drove the car and he told me you’re the man for the machine. For the first year I enjoyed the car, drove it from the DC area to Huntsville once getting out of the Marine Corps.

Life as a family car

After moving here this was my daily! My kids 1 and 2 at the time loved the turbo noises and years later to this day they still love cars at 4 and 5 because of this car. While living down here I realized this car had a problem.. what would that be? It needed the tune to be fully finished so it could reach its full potential. So I hit up an amazing company out of Canada called DRTuning. After months of datalogs, trail and errors, it was finally good to reach full potential. When turned up it will reach 26psi of boost! About the time the tuning was done I had to sell the car to my brother Xan..

Not so family friendly anymore

After buying the Mazda3 from me, Xan decided to make this thing an even bigger terror to all the v8s in the north Al region ( no joke hes walked away from 10r80 mustang gts and snackpacks.. I mean scatpacks).  Everything behind the driver seat is gone, a hollowed out headlight with a hole for airflow straight to the turbo, an EPA approved “High-Flow” (if you know you know) cat.  Xan plans on making this into a full on track car. He’s changed to coilovers instead of ancient suspension and lowering springs, he’s got 5-point harnesses, and plans on adding a roll cage. Instead of the Enkies he swapped up to some stock rx8 wheels for now, and damn they look good. If the aura of the original Fast&Furious could be put into a modern day build this would be it. There are parts of this build that aren’t included because the files for this build are marked TOP SECRET, so we cant spill all the tea for everyone to know what just put bus lengths on them. She may look like Fetty Wap, but her name is Karma because she gets hers every time.. many have tried to escape her but none have gotten away from her.
