The American Speed Festival at the M1 Concourse is a four day event that is a must see for racing fans of all classes. The ASF was held at the M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Michigan, which is a 1.5 mile track with over one hundred private garages along the straightaway. This event brings over 15 classes, 200 cars, thousands of fans and many sponsors over the course of the weekend. Some of the classes that were included in the weekends events were vintage indy, sprint cars, supercars, drift cars, Ferrari Challenge, and Stiletto Cup to name a few. The American Speed Fest is always better than anticipated and if you haven’t yet, make sure to get out and enjoy it next year.
The Ferrari Challenge is a racing class that has been racing around the globe for over thirty years and is based on a select few models of Ferraris. At the M1 there were about 5 cars from the challenge active during the race weekend. If a red stallion isn’t your thing don’t worry, Wilko Racing, which started their journey at the M1 Concourse, brought out their blue 296 Challenge and their 488 Challenge Evo. This event was one that had the fans on their feet and will be sure to bring people back next year if it returns.
Other classes that participated in the weekend brought out many great cars and didn’t fall short of the rest. The vintage Indy and Indy cars made sure to bring some amazing cars that did not disappoint and had quite a few people searching their phones to figure out what car was racing in front of their face. Sprint cars on a “road track” was something not many people see throughout the year and it was very cool to see those cars leaning around the curves! My personal favorite car from the Weekend was from the local Team Illuminatas Porsche 944 wrapped in a beautiful BRAID wheels theme. If it’s something you missed out on this year make sure to pack up, head to the M1 in Pontiac, and have a great weekend doing so next year!
